A Graduand, at last.

@ 10:13 pm | 3 comments

I received an unexpected email on Saturday. It was sent by studentgraduations[at]uq[dot]edu[dot]au with a subject “Successful & Attend”. Student graduations? Very weird, I thought. My final exam’s results would not be released until Wednesday, but how could I receive a graduation confirmation earlier than expected? At first, I thought it was a spam email. Perhaps somebody broke to UQ’s student database and email this to all students :P . But when I read through the email, I realised it was not a spam. It was sent officially from UQ. I also checked mySI.net, it said: “Congratulations. Your eligibility to graduate has been confirmed for the Bachelor of Information Technology.” Unbelievable. I am a graduand. I’ve passed another milestone of my life.

And here I am in Jeddah waiting for my departure to Brisbane tonight to attend my graduation ceremony on 3 December. This is crazy. Everything runs so fast. No one can stop it. Four years seem like few days. And for the past few weeks, I’ve been living in denial. I tried to spend my time with my friends as much as possible. I tried not to discuss about my departure with my housemates. I just didn’t want to think about farewell. When Sean and Jenny sent me to the airport last week (to go to Jeddah), I couldn’t resist to cry. It’s so sad to know that I would not see them again in the future. I would not be able to play cards with them again. Jenny has been a wonderful housemate. We’ve practically lived under the same roof for nearly 4 years. Oh I hate to say goodbye.

I have to apologize for not updating my blog. The reasons are not that important hehe. I have so many stories to tell! I’ll be back soon. Thanks for everyone who have contacted me about my disappearance… :D Hopefully I won’t abandon my blog again..

*I should arrive in Brisbane on Saturday morning and leave Australia for good on 20 December. My family and I have been planning to travel to Egypt for holiday, but it has not been confirmed yet. I’m quite excited to go back to my country of birth and visit my auntie, uncle, and cousins there… We’ll see how it goes!
