well i resoect the comments made by these readers but there is something i might as like to add that is when u miss culture tradition and islam you gety a whole picture of the kingdom.as one of the readers have stated that one of the women got fainted and nobody dared to touch her as its not allowed in islam one thing i would want to clearly state is that these are exceptional cases.saudiarabia is one of the very few countries in the world that mixes modernism with islam, when you see women enjoying the freedom they have been given there are seperate cafes exclusive for women where they can have cups of coffee likeany other modern girl even often smoke cigarretes, they have exclusive shopping malls for women where they can spend handsome amount of money on clothes and jewellery honestly it is like a nighout with friends all the time.so i think saudi women aree liberal under islamic shariaah and our beloved readers should be in formed about it.

very funny ! :D however it's also sad at the same time, to see yet another example of people failure to grasp the essence of Islam. In this case, hijab is supposed to be about modesty. In practice, the hijab is just a burden.

Was flying through saudi too once, saw women with hijab boarding, nothing new. But once the plane flew, they opened their hijab, and revealed clothes so skimpy, they might as well be naked, hehe.

Also on dowry, it's just plain crazy. From what I've heard this practice is quite widespread.
I also read a post where a woman fainted, and no men around will help her because they don't want to touch her. Hello, have you ever heard an exception called "emergency situation" ??
And they boasted themselves as an Islamic country :-( really shameful.

This is what will happen when religion is implemented as dogmas and mixed with culture & traditions, instead of wisdom / hikmah.

Anyway, very interesting blog. Please keep sharing. Thanks!

One last thing. The gift. In Indonesia, you can just give money to either parents or married couples on the wedding day. Unfortunately, that does not apply for Saudi people. You have to give them a set of jewelries, usually gold necklace and earrings.

wow jewelries??? that's too much isn't it?????
i think it's just a matter of prosperity...
