Tension is High

It’s now Swot Vac at UQ. My first exam is on 4 November. But I haven’t had the motivation to study. Sigh. There are too many distractions at home and it seems like I have to find a ‘good’ place to study again… perhaps library. So boring, eh? I’ll also have a group study with my friends later on. Hope that would increase my study mood :). I’m going to tante Malia’s house in Sunnybank in the afternoon, so I think I won’t be able to start studying until Monday :D.

I went to the ‘Halal Bihalal’ event at UQ yesterday. Because there’s no embassy nor consulate general resided here in Brisbane, the event itself was organised by the Indonesian society. At 8-ish, I visited mbak Ina’s house first before I went there; since I haven’t visited her and her family for Lebaran. Got a chance to help her arranging the cakes and finally wash the dishes!!! LOL. Coz she always refuses me doing that everytime I visit her house :P. Anyway, she made yummy cheese cakes and opor for the gathering. At 10 am, we headed to the campus and did some food preparations there. There were many perfomances, though I only watched some of them. The best part of the gathering is of course during LUNCH! Hahaha. The foods were delicious!!! Honestly, it was the first time (after 3 years spending Lebaran without my family) that I felt like this year is the REAL lebaran hehehe. I had never eaten these Lebaran foods ever since I arrived here. So sad… haha. My mom told me to cook them by myself, but I couldn’t bother doing that :P. Exam is coming up!! *excuse*

A bad news. My housemates’ clothes were stollen! It was very upsetting news, especially for Jenny. She just got the clothes from her sister in the States. She hasn’t even wear them!! Our unit is easily accessible from outside. People can jump into our balcony so easily. Ever since the water restrictions took effect, the plants and trees surrounding our balcony have been dying. Many of them fell into the ground. If we don’t pull the curtains closed, people from the street can see us. A few days ago, Jenny told us she wanted to move. She didn’t want to stay here any longer, coz she thought this place’s not safe anymore. She said that something worst might happen later. I was the only one who’s not affected by this, so I felt like the idea of moving out was not necessary. I do feel scared for our security, but I guess I feel less worried because clearly Brisbane is much safer than Jakarta. I ‘only’ fear for drunk people and raping incident. The other reason why I didn’t want to move was because of money. Even though Jenny wanted to move to a different unit (but same apartment), the rent might get increase because we’re regarded as new residents. But then, after talking to our property manager, I was told that our rent will not be increased although we’re moving to a different unit. That was a big relief for me, although I still had no interest moving out of this place. It is just too troublesome! The decision whether or not we’re going to move was put on me. Mayu was okay with both, if I stay, she’d stay. And if I move, she’d move with me (coz we share the room together). On the other hand, Jenny refused to stay no matter what my decision would be. It was a hard decision!! Part of me didn’t want to be selfish, and the other part of me wanted to stay in this unit til I graduate. I was also too lazy to pack things up! So I called my mom about this matter. I wanted to know her opinion. She didn’t know the real situation in Brisbane that so many freaky and scary things happened. I never told her about it. Yes, she ordered me to move out :|. She scolded me coz she thought I should have ‘taken care’ of myself :D. Errr… anyway… the decision is final. We’re going to move out to the unit 2 levels above us (3rd level) around the beginning of January. The layout of the unit is exactly the same, except that it has smaller balcony. I think the view from there is gonna be beautiful :). It’s good that we’re only have to move our stuffs 2 levels up. We don’t have to do some packings… just take the stuffs up and put them exactly in the same place hehehehe. Have a good weekend, everyone!

Standar keamanannya beda ya, Jakarta sama Brisbane. Di sana baju hilang aja udah bisa bikin orang pindah.

Let’s just look at the bright side. Third floor? Boy you’re about to getting healthy :D
