Junk Stuff
Remember I told you guys about a thief who broke into the apartment where I live? Everything was sorted out, although yes… my neighbours lost their laptops. Then here came another shocking news. There was a rape committed at Taringa train station last Saturday night at 12:15am!! You know what?? The train station is just few meters away from my apartment!!! Even I can still hear the sound of trains from my apartment as they come and go! It’s so scary!! There were also two other rape incidents happened in Spring Hill (just near the City) about a week ago. The victims were all Asians, one was a Japanese and the other one was a Korean. I lived in Spring Hill before. I admit that it’s not a safe neighborhood. It becomes so quiet and scary at night. Groups of people. Drunk. Anyway, hope everything’s OK. I just don’t want to be worried all the time. It freaks me out.
I talked to my boss about my plan to take a summer course in December. I was surprised that he allowed me to do that!! I mean, it was just soooo easy. He told me, “It’s up to you.” When I asked him whether or not I should go to the office every single day during the vacation, he said, “I’m quite flexible. You want to come here full-time or part-time. We can sort it out later.” Whoaaa… he IS so NICE! I couldn’t believe it!! Because of his “shocking” respond, I didn’t have the urge to tell him about taking one or 2 weeks off so that I can go to Jeddah to renew my permanent residency visa. It seems very hard for me to ask him about this matter :(. But I have to do it!!!
Someone called me a few days ago asking for a job interview!!! I was surprised. I refused it. I wanted to accept it, but I thought about the work I’m doing right now; the boss who is so nice and the employees who are so friendly. I don’t think I’m able to get a similar working environment like I have now. I knew that I couldn’t do both of them, because I was pretty sure that the other company (the one that called me) expected me to work full-time during the vacation. If I worked full-time, I would not be able to do my summer course, nor would I be able to go home. So I just refused it. Yes. I was stupid. Hahaha.
OK. About the volunteer. I wrote about it somewhere in my previous post that I was accepted to work as a volunteer at the Multicultural Festival 2006. I was excited. My housemate Mayu also got in. I’ll work as a venue/site assistant, while Mayu will be an information booth attendant. The event will be held on Sunday, October 15. I got a 7 am to 2 pm work-shift. So it’s not that bad. I just need to keep my body fit, knowing that I have anemia. I didn’t realised that I’ll still be fasting by the time I work there. I’ll make sure that I take some vitamins before hand. It’s an outdoor work, so hopefully the sun will not be so hot. This will be my first “official” outdoor work hehehe. I always love to work in the office. But I want to experience other thing too. This event seems perfect for me. Because I only have to work for 7 hours. That’s it. And I like the true meaning behind this festival. Multicultural. Bringing a cultural diversity into one. There’ll be many artists performing at this festival. So I’ll see if I can talk with them since I’ll be working at the backstage ;). Hehehe. FYI, the Multicultural Festival 2006 will be held at Roma Street Parkland on 15 October, 10 am to 8.30 pm.
I checked the UQ calendar and I was surprised to find out that I only have 3 more weeks to study before the semester 2 ends!! It’s sooo fast. The draft exam timetable was out. My exam schedule’s perfect!! I have exams on 4th, 7th, and 16th of November. Earlier than usual. I’ll finish the exams before Mayu. Unbelievable :P. Mayu always completed her exams wayyyy before me. This is the first time that I’ll finish earlier than her hehehe. Alhamdulillah. Well, that’s a good news. The bad news is that I have a 8 am Saturday exam!! There’s only one bus services to UQ before 8am. But what happens if the bus is full??? (which sometimes happens) I’ll be late for my exam! So I have to take a train and CityCat (ferry) to get to Uni, which is a waste of time! It takes only 10 minutes to go from my apartment to Uni, you know? By taking a train and a CityCat, it’ll take at least 30 minutes to get there :(.
Anyway, read this and thisto enlighten your day! LOL. Have fun!
