Eid ul-Fitr 2006

I usually went to the Lutwyche Mosque every year to perform Eid-ul-Fitr prayer. The mosque is located in the northern part of Brisbane. People who went there were mostly Arabs and Africans; certainly not many Asians (Indonesians, Malaysians, etc) attended the prayer at this mosque. Although Eid-ul-Fitr always brings us a joyful occasion, it’ll be more momentous if we spend this very special day with friends, right? Therefore this year I joined other Indonesians at my campus, UQ for Eid-ul-Fitr prayer.

with my Malay friends; Aeliaa, Siti, and Aeliaa's sister Indonesians! me & Kiki

The prayer was held on the massive softball field, Len Hayes Softball Diamond at 8 am. The weather was perfect, though it got quite hot after the prayer concluded. It was a pity that we couldn’t hear anything that the Imam said during the Khutbah. The speaker was bad. I couldn’t catch any words he said! Anyway, Malaysians and Indonesians are the two majority groups. It was easy to distinguish between the two of them, as most Malays wore the colourful traditional customes. Indonesians were a bit boring :P, we should wear traditional clothes next time!!! lol. I met so many friends; people whom I haven’t seen for ages!! It was amazing!! :) Wanna see more pictures? I called my mom yesterday coz people in Saudi Arabia had the Eid celebrated on Monday. Whoaaa.. she kept telling stories that made feel wanting to go home!!! :( She purposely did that to me hahaha… :P She said that our family’s going to have an open house in a few days and she’s been busy preparing the whole thing. I SOOO want to be there!!! Hiks, I miss my family!!!

Thanks for all the wishes :). Eid Mubarak!
