All Eyes on Islam
Someone gave me this link about a French teacher who criticises our Prophet SAW and Al-Qur’an for spreading violence and hatred. I was completely angry and heart-broken. This was not the first time I read about this. A friend of mine sent me a website address, which I don’t remember it now & can’t bother searching it on the net (Please don’t remind me of that website again, lay! ;)), that spread the false stories about Islam. I always wonder, where did they get those information from?? Have they spent enough time to observe what the messages in Al-Qur’an are? If yes, did they get the translation from a genuine author? Have they interact with moderate Moslem people and compare their thoughts to the extremists?
All of my closest friends here are non-Moslems. They respect me for who I am and I respect them for who they are. Most of them told me that “DANGEROUS” was the first word that came out of their minds when they thought about Islam. But they realised that, after they met me, their statements were wrong. Most people hold these stereotypes and misperceptions about Islam, rather than the truth and facts itself. Media is the only source of information they have. But it is not enough to depend on one source, you gotta read books and interact with us to understand what we really believe in. Don’t just look at the videos that Osama bin Laden and his servants
show you and believe of every single things they said. Islam is not only based on Osama’s point of views, it’s more complex than that! People like him stupidly misinterpret the real meaning of Islam; they believe in one verse of Al Qur’an while they ignore the other verses of it. It is true that God endorses the fights, but that only applies for defensive purposes.
Permission to fight is given to those who are fought against because they have been wronged - truly God has the power to come to their support - those who were expelled from their homes without any right, merely for saying, “Our Lord is God”… Al-Qur’an, Al-Hajj: 39-40
Fight in the way of God against those who fight you, but do not go beyond the limits. God does not love those who go beyond the limits. Al-Baqarah:190
In the other verses, Al-Qur’an denounces the killing and murder of innocents. It is described that killing a single person is the same as killing all people on earth:
… if someone kills another person… it is as if he had murdered all mankind. And if anyone gives life to another person, it is as if he had given life to all mankind. Our Messengers came to them with Clear Signs, but even after that many of them committed outrages in the earth. Al-Maidah:32
I don’t know whether the above verses are included in Osama’s list or not. But I think he needs to be polished a little bit. He has wasted his years killing many innocent people in this world. He has lived his life with fears that America will caught him someday. But thanks, Osama… you made all of us suffer. All of us, including the victims of your bomb plots, the communities around the world, and the Moslem societies. I know it’s the media that exaggerates everything related to Islam, but there must be something that triggered this. You’ve made the world changes its views towards us. And it’s you and your stupid servants who did this by bringing the name of Islam. Which part of Islam do you believe in??? Or perhaps you just never understand what Islam wants you to do?? I have to question this because I have never been taught to spread the violence to other believers. Why do I bother to do it anyway?? I still have countless dreams and I won’t waste my life by killing other people. Hundred years is a very limited time (if we can live for 100 years). So I’ll make sure that I’ll do everything that I like and do good things for the world and other people before I die.
Ok, back to the original topic :P. I want to quote what the French teacher, Robert Redeker, said about Islam:
“Jesus is a master of love; Muhammad is a master of hatred… Whereas Judaism and Christianity are religions whose rites forsake violence and remove its legitimacy, Islam is a religion that, in its very sacred text, as much as in some of its everyday rites, exalts violence and hatred. Hatred and violence dwell in the very book that educates any Muslim, the Koran.”
I certainly cannot accept his opinions about our Prophet Muhammad SAW. We never insult Jesus (Prophet Isa AS). We respect him for he is one of many respected Prophets mentioned in Al-Qur’an. Believing the existency of Prophets and Messengers is one of Islam’s six articles of belief. And again.. for million times.. Islam does NOT exalt violence!! I think he only looked at Islam in the terrorist’s perspectives. He has noooo idea or whatsover about our religion. Sure, if Islam is the religion of violence, then why a lot of educated people convert from other religions to Islam?? They won’t do it if our religion spreads hatred towards other believers!
So in some way, the Islamists have succeeded in punishing me on the territory of the republic as if I were guilty of a crime of opinion… You will never feel secure on this earth. One billion, 300,000 Muslims are ready to kill you.
Yeah, right! If you’re brave enough to say it, then why the hell are you scared of facing the “Islamists”??? Think before you act. You said it as if ALL Moslem people will kill you! But you know what?? The true Moslems know how to handle this. Did you read about our Prophet SAW that was insulted by other believers at the beginning of His mission?? He didn’t kill them or take any revenge because of their accusation!!! He would still treat them with respect and dealt them with patience. And didn’t you realise how busy the world was when the Da Vinci Code was published?? Some people couldn’t accept the fact that Jesus was said to have a wife and a son! It’s just a similar thing that happened with you now! It’s the result of “freedom of expression”.
I am very tolerant when it comes to other religions. I respect all kinds of religions. Sometimes I’d discuss and learn more about my friends’ beliefs, but I never argue which one is true and which one is false. I believe that religion is a private matter; it’s about the relationship between you and God. It’s a strong faith that connects you with Him. No one should make a fuss about it, PERIOD!!!

Spot on!
Thanks for writing such a good explanation, Mel. I knew you’re good as always.
It’s not about freedom of speech any longer, dear my western friends.
It’s about verbal violence, which is of course as bad as any violences in the world.
Thanks again, Mel
Hi, just happen to come across your blog thru technorati. i found it quite good. this article is really good. the west has always misunderstood (of course they don’t really wanna understand Islam since it will contradict their beliefs!) and are further trying to poison the minds of the populace there. i am glad you are voicing your concerns. Kudos to you. keep up the good work.
reader: my pleasure. thanks 4 giving me that link
And nooo.. I’m not always good
Fawaz Iqbal: Thanks for stopping by :). May I correct you? Not all western people has misperceptions about Islam. Although sometimes bad things happen to me here (discrimination, etc), many people don’t give a damn of what we’re doing… Oh yeah, I forgot to add that in my post…
Yes you are!
My god you are superb and yet humble.
Sorry if I’m being anonymous. Am just not ready to get known by you.
It’s okay, isn’t it?
I have met several sites and blog that spread these very own lies. The arguments are usually the same (such as “in its Holy text, Islam promote violence bla bla bla”).
Of course I know that they only misquote some parts. Some do this because of their ignorance, but many do this voluntarily to bend the text to their will with their own interpretations.
I think we need a “debunking” site for this kind of things
As far as i can see, we can’t put the blame on them either. We saw how US successfully made the world refering Moslem as terrorists.
On the other hand, indeed there are certain groups of radical muslims had given them the proof about their impressions.
So I think it is up to us how we could change the way they see muslims. I agree with Oscar.
reader: you’re not ready? am i monster or something?
lol. naaah..it’s ok.. up to u. but u gotta tell me who u are sooner or later
Oskar Syahbana: yeah. agree w/ you. do we need to hack their websites as well?? lol.
MasBay: Well, the thing is.. I’ve been blaming U.S too for this. but the terrorists did stupid things too. they should be blamed for it. they just killed everyone, even moslem people in Iraq..in the markets.. public places, etc. so we can’t only blame america, but also the terrorists. That’s what I think
Hi..Nice to read your posts. i definitely agree with you regarding the misquote of our Al Quran. They just try to understand one verse without relate it with the others.
We can see how we’ve been attacked in so many ways..
well…

untukmu agamamu…
untukku agamaku…
Well, if you really ARE a monster, it occured to me that I’ve been admiring not only a monster, but a georgous one.
I promise I’ll tell you. Until then, just remember my fake email - it can be such an id though
Keep up the good work!
reader: Oh, thanks.. so sweet. But I think you’re admiring the wrong person. I’m not THAT superb. I’m just like any other person..
Hmmm,…
c’est la vie…
there will always black and white in this world til the end of this life…
We moslem say our religion are just such as positive things…vice versa, they, some people have their own opinion according to their own background, experience, what books they read that make they have hatred and rediculous thoughts about moslem.
to me, whatever they want to say, now our turn to prove thats not true, but, some people of us ,bring religion to sweep anything that we say ’sins’..with violence they destroy clubs and its brother in this holy month..
..I think its just how to respect each other…and Robert something doesnt have it…
