Addictive

When I love doing something, I tend to do it without a limit. It’s very bad! Most of the time my grades are dropped because of that!
But it’s fun!! hehe. I just want to share things that were/are addictive for me…
- Correspondence - It all began with a letter I sent to one of the readers of Gadis Magazine who was interested in making friends by written communication. She sent me a so-called ‘Friendship Book’ (FB) that contained many addresses written by people from around the world. My job was to send the FB to other people, so they can put their addresses as well. Then the last person who got the FB must send it back to the FB’s owner whose address was in the book. It was quite fun! I received about 100 to 200 letters per month. Most of them came from Europe. We talked about our culture, country, and family. Sometimes I exchanged posters, stamps, and phonecards (I loved collecting them… I still have them in my wardrobe back in Jakarta). I got a chance to practice my English too, coz my English was aaaawful! The people in the Post Office knew me very well, because I always went there to buy LOTS of stamps. I think he knew that I was cheating too. I put a 50 cent stamp per envelope instead of 1 Riyal stamp hahaha. It was quite expensive; my dad had to pay about 100 - 150 riyals every month for those letters!!
Cheating was good! LOL. Depending on a person I wrote to, sometimes I asked them to return my stamps back (and I would return their stamps too). So that I could re-use the stamps again. Do you know how we did it? Just cover the stamps with a glue before you send the letter. Once you got the stamp back, wash it with water to remove the seal. Dry it. You can reuse it again afterwards hehehe. Anyway, after 2 to 3 years writing letters, I finally stopped doing correspondence when I moved to Indonesia for high school.
- Chocolate - I love chocolate. I never get sick of it, thanks to my mom :D. Well, she is always worried about my body shape. She always thinks that I’m too skinny (she still reminds me to eat a lot of foods everytime she calls me!! Even now!!). Whenever she went to the supermarket, she always bought me boxes of chocolates, cheese, and yoghurt. Her dream was to make me more ‘fatty’. But it sadly didn’t turn into success. No matter how much food goes in, my body will stay the same
(alhamdulillah). When I was in the dorm, my friends who had lived in the same room with me knew well how much chocolates I brought. All of them were brought from Jeddah (cos they’re much cheaper there). I kept a large stock of them for 1 semester. I gave many of them to my friends coz I always couldn’t finish them all! But when my food stock was running low, I ate it quietly hahaha. Sometimes you have to be selfish, right? Otherwise you won’t survive. LOL.
- Computer - Everyone knows it already. It’s self-explanatory :D. People in the house are used to see me sitting in front of the computer for hours. My mom hates it and my dad always goes: “Aren’t you tired?” (well, dad.. you’re the one who introduced me to the computer, right?? :P) And I think my brother follows my step. It’s funny that my whole family - all 5 of us - always break into a “fight” deciding who’s going to access the internet first! We only have a dialup (slow..slow…). We can’t connect to the internet during office hours in Jakarta due to incoming faxes and calls (the phone keeps ringing and ringing while we’re sleeping! argh). And you have no idea how selfish I am when it comes to computer hahaha. Err.. my mom always blames me for the high cost of phone bill whenever I’m in Jeddah :P. Sorry mom, it only happens once in a year, right?
- Games! - A bad influence I got from my brother hehehe. I hardly play games with my laptop (its memory will scream I guess :P). I do have them installed in my computer, but most of them are “brain-related games” e.g. Scrabble and Text Twist. These type of games won’t make me addicted for a long period of time. Anyway, I love to play car racing games such as Need for Speed and life simulation games like The Sims. I only play them when I go back home - using my brother’s PlayStation of course. Thank God I don’t have them in my computer, otherwise I won’t study and eat! LOL. My brother once asked me to play a football game (FIFA) with him so I gave a try. But then I kept losing and losing!! hahaha. I didn’t have a chance to take any shots at the goal!!! How embarassing! So my brother allowed me took ONE shot, hence my score was one
(and he got 10 scores MORE than me). Ugh, I hate football games.
… how about YOU???
Got the opportunity to write again… coz I finished my c++ assignment!!! hahaha *sooo happy*. Earlier than I expected, thanks to my tutor. I also got a result for my previous assignment and I’m so happy with the result :). Alhamdulillah.
I also addicted to computer, especially when I’m doing a research or learn something new. Games? I think everybody does. Correspondence, almost never, except if you considered e-mailing as correspondence too.
There are so many foods that I addicted to, you won’t be surprised if you see what my body looks like
-I tend to buy books without finish reading them.. this is a very bad habit.
-Like u and anybody else. GAMESSSSS. but not complicated one. The games that have been installed in my computer for quite long are Championship manager and Worm… (game yang lain sudah berguguran di hantam kebosanan)
-apa lagi ya????Instant noddle kali ya.. cenderung addict sama ini. but after i live with my parent after my long adventure in Bandung. gue cenderung lebih sehat makanannya. makanya agak Montok (pemebenaran)

I think am addicted to someone. Well, obviously to her blog.
addicted to computer is so-so.. coz we’re in “unreal world” now.
just go girl..:D
tapi… sampe addict to Correspondence that bad… hahahaha… that a think..!!
i can’t imagine receiving 100-200 letters a month.. fiuuh…
i dont think i can handle that..
Bayu: Yeah, people will hardly bother about writing letter via post nowadays. For me, emailing is very different. I tend to write less (and less serious too) when emailing. When u write a letter, you have to think very hard and try not to make mistakes, etc. So I think in terms of seriousness, writing a letter is better
Maaf loh, blog loe jadi tempat perkenalan gitu lol. Parigi Moutong??? Gak pernah denger. Ke pulau sulawesi aja gw belom pernah!!! (err.. padahal bokap gw kan bugis… tapi gw kok gak pernah diajak kesana yah? lol) Ati2 yah disana. Have fun!!!

Your english is what??
Well anyway, you haven’t mentioned internet! I mean, a computer without an internet is just very dull…
And just like Catur, I tend to read books without ever really finishing it. Tons of it on my drawers, might have to re-visit them some day…
Oskar Syahbana: for me, internet computer are included as one package!
