The Grand Mosque & Women

Yes, I know this is an old story. But I don’t care…

Last month, women from all over the world spoke up opposing a new proposal to banned women praying within the mataaf in the Grand Mosque / Masjidil Haram. The proposal was made and supported by the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques Affairs, the Haj Research Institute and the Makkah Governorate. Before I’m about to explode, let’s just see what the reason behind the proposal is:

The area is very small and so crowded. So we decided to get women out of the sahn [Kaaba area] to a better place where they can see the Kaaba and have more space.Osama Al Bar, head of the Institute for Haj Research

Seriously, this is ridiculous! It’s sooooo unfair. We only got ONE block of praying space in front of Ka’ba, you know??? Even worst, we are always forced to go away when we pray in Multazam! It’s already unfair from the very beginning!! It won’t make any difference whether they want to make it men-only or women-only area, it’ll always gonna be crowded!! Why women -again, for million times- who must pray away from the mataaf??? Why not men?? Why did they care about it anyway??

What’s wrong with women? Did they worried about the mixing of women and men?? Well, we are already mixed when we walk around Ka’bah (tawaf)!! What do they want to do next?? Building a wall so that women and men are entirely separated when performing Tawaf??? I couldn’t believe that they made such a stupid and awful proposal! They hardly regard women’s voices; it seems that we will always agree of eveeeeerything they say! No! Not anymore! Not after they stopped the firemen to rescue the schoolgirls inside a burning school just because the girls didn’t wear abaya!!!

Millions of Moslem women want to go to the Grand Mosque and pray in front of Ka’bah. Not only women, but also men! It’s something that we all want to achieve! There’s a different feeling when you pray right in front of Ka’bah… I don’t know, it’s just different - it’s a mix of amazement, gratefulness, happiness… it’s indescribable!! Besides, Al-Qur’an clearly stated that men and women are equal when it comes to their relationship to Allah SWT. But agaiiiinnn… those Saudi men wanted to move us to “a better place”… I just don’t get it, what kind of “better place” is that?? Our Prophet SAW never banned us praying inside the Mataaf! No one ever did that - or at least never intended to do it, except them!!! It seems that they’re the OWNER of the Mosque who have the right to push women aside!

But thanks to all women around the world, this proposal was rejected! Yaayy… I’m totally grateful! I’m sorry Mr Governor, you must be very upset… the fact that your people and “your” Mosque had reduced the women’s prayer area over the last several years woke all of us up. We won’t let you do it again, we won’t let you kick us out of the Mosque!!!

OMG!! Why the hell wud they do that?? There’s no such policy in the Quran, is there?? Allah views both men and women equally, so it shudn’t be up to them in determining who can pray in front of the Ka’bah and who cant.
