Jogja

About a week ago, k’Qq sent me a message and asked me to get involved as a volunteer for the earthquake victims in Java once I arrived in Jakarta. She and a lot of people are organizing many programs devoted for Jogja. I’m sooo excited about it, coz whenever a disaster happens in Indonesia, I’m always out of the country. This is a good chance for me to work as a volunteer, since Jogja is closed to Jakarta. I also have many friends who study there, so I guess I don’t have to worry about the accommodation.

BUT, I can’t just go there straight away! I’m 100% sure that my parents will not give me a permission to go there. Sending their daughter to a city where the mountain is going to blow up real soon?? I don’t think so! I know what they’re going to say… I’ll miss this big chance again…

Then my housemate Mayuko told me that she wants to do something for the victims. I said to her that if she wants to give them money or clothes, I’m more than happy to send them to Jogja by the time I arrived in Jakarta. But then she said that she wants to ask her friends to donate money for the victims (how sweet..). So, after having a long discussion, Mayu, Tammy, and I decided to raise some funds for Jogja. However, this is a Swot-Vac, and the exam is coming soon, so we don’t have that much time to do it. Plus, we hardly see our friends during a swot-vac, coz the class/lecture has ended.

So we decided to send emails to all of our friends asking for donation. Tammy and I will buy some important stuff (like food and medicine) once we’re in Jakarta. Then we’ll send them to Jogja right away.
I know that it’s sooooo inaffective to ask for a donation through emails. But what more can we do?? We’re all busy with exams. I’m a bit pessimist about it, but.. alhamdulillah… so far 2 people have responded (Thanks so much!). But I hope that more people will donate, even if it’s only $5!!! If you’re reading this, and you live in Australia, you’re more than welcome to donate for Jogja victims. Please contact me for further info… thanks.
