5 dreams

Posted by: amellie 2 years, 5 months ago

I got another tag from this guy about 2 weeks ago. Due to assignments, I hadn’t got a chance to write it here. I remember I have written about it somewhere in my blog, but it’s ok, I’ll put them here again hehehe. Hmm, for me it’s kinda hard to write only 5 dreams, coz I think I have soooo many dreams hahahha *rakus*. Anyway.. here it is… the list of my dreams!

  • Finish undergraduate & continue to postgraduate - I can’t wait for it :D. I want to graduate as soon as possible (next year Insya Allah). I plan to study for my master degree somewhere in Europe (perhaps Germany) or maybe Australia again hahaha. Err, my parents want me to study in bigger cities though, like Sydney or Melbourne. :D
  • Internship / Summer Course in Europe - I’m currently saving my money to go there after I graduate from UQ. Hopefully by then I’ll have enough money to enroll the program… amiiinnn.
  • Volunteer! - It’s been my major plan since High School, but I always had no time to do it! :( I want to be a volunteer in some big organisations someday, and hopefully I’ll be able to use the knowledge I get from the Uni in the workfield (and help people too!!)
  • Work & live in the Middle East - I admit that I always criticise arabic people - esp how they live and treat women; but it never prevents me from going back to this land again. Perhaps the only reason is the Great Haram Mosque in Mecca and Nabawi Mosque in Madinah that somehow give me a sense of peace in my heart. I want to live not too far away from Mecca, maybe Dubai or Jeddah again… so I can visit the Mosque whenever I can…
  • Help my parents financially - My parents have worked so hard to bring me into this stage and I always feel sooooo grateful for that. So I guess I need to pay them back someday, Insya Allah.. so they’ll spend the rest of their lives enjoying the world without working hehehehe…

Those are my dreams; they motivate me to work harder and harder… but at the end, I’ll leave them to Allah SWT.. let Him choose what will be the best plans for my future life…

Many people have dreams of living in Middle East specialy places like Dubai or Kuwait. Tax Free salaries, shopping, luxury 4WD cars and nice house, wow everything sounds great, isnt it ?

But reality is absolutely different than this. The truth is that you are treated as a 3rd class citizen and the experience is nothing but a modern day Slavery system thats still alive in that part of the world. Let me tell you an interesting story here.

I used to work in Dubai and assumed that becasue everytime I go to meet our MD (an Arab local guy from UAE) offers me a cup of tea when I visit his office, so we are like friends to each other. Once I was driving to Saudi border and saw his car on one of the fule stations, I went to the station, got the fuel and offered him a cup of tea as my treat today.

The gentleman lost his temper immediately and said “do u know why i always offer you tea, coz u r from poor country pakistan and i give you tea just like a favour. so how the hell this idea came to your mind that one day you can be equal to me and offer me a cup of tea ?

Well, do I need to explain anything more now ?

Anonymous: I know how Arab people (in general) treat us, the minorities.. the Asians.. I know it for sure, as I have lived in the middle East ever since I was born. I personally hate it, but I believe that we are always be treated as “minorities” in whatever countries we live (except my country, Indonesia).

After moving to Australia, I see how they treat Aboriginal ppl and I’ve also experienced many kinds of things… from being thrown, screamed… whatever! So now I come to a conclusion that I have to accept the risks… incl. living in a country like UAE or Saudi Arabia.

Despite the fact that Arab people are sooo arrogant, I met many nice Arabs over there… They respect us just like they respect their own people and they treat us like they treat their own families. :)

I wouldn’t mind digging some life experience in the Middle East, would be a grand eye opener, but to live … errrr, one has to see what lies in store!

Heck, I don’t even fancy living forever in terra australis.

    LOL

mengapakah suku Arab dianggap (atau memang) arogan? krn punya minyak? padahal negara lain pun ngga kalah bagusnya, tapi masih tetep modest.

macchiato: Gak tau! Gw jg bingung… Mereka saking arogannya ga pernah mau kerja dgn posisi yg dianggap “rendah” misal supir… But sekitar tahun 2005/06, mulai banyak org arab yg jd supir.. karena apa?? Udah banyak yg miskin… kekekekek.. :P
