An Economic Hit Man

@ 10:16 am | 8 comments

My parents always tell me that the United States persuade or even force Islamic/poor countries like Indonesia and Saudi Arabia so that these countries would borrow money to the IMF or World Bank (WB). I’m surrounded by people who blame U.S for almost every cases that happened in this world. I’m influenced. I believe that Iraq War (Gulf War II) was a result of the U.S’s dirty actions to control Iraq’s oil industries. I also think that the assassination of former lebanese PM, Rafik Hariri, was done by U.S. to messed up the Syrian government (so that the America will attack them later!). But these issues are often discussed within people who have the same opinions with me. I never raise the issues to other people merely because I have no strong opinions about it (probably a proof?).

But it’s not until a friend of mine recommended this book that I began to think that blaming U.S is the right thing to do! Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins is a book we all must read!!! I HAVEN’T READ IT! And I’m going to! This is how my friend describes the book:

Then I found this site which has a brief summary about the book and an interview with the author. It cites some paragraphs of the book including this one:

The book was to be dedicated to the presidents of two countries, men who had been his clients whom I respected and thought of as kindred spirits – Jaime Roldós, president of Ecuador, and Omar Torrijos, president of Panama. Both had just died in fiery crashes. Their deaths were not accidental. They were assassinated because they opposed that fraternity of corporate, government, and banking heads whose goal is global empire. We Economic Hit Men failed to bring Roldós and Torrijos around, and the other type of hit men, the CIA-sanctioned jackals who were always right behind us, stepped in.

Don’t be surprised! America has killed millions of people in the war. So they’re likely going to kill those presidents with the stupid reasons. Perkins said in the interview that if EHM fails to persuade the country to accept the offer (e.g. borrow money), they influence local people to do a coup/revolution. If it still doesn’t work, they perform assassinations. Perkins said that Saddam Hussein’s bodyguard was too powerful, so the only solution was going for Iraq’s war.

So by reading his interview, we can predict that there’ll be another war coming up for the next 2 or 3 years. Which countries will be attacked?? Iran, Syria, and North Korea? Now I know why moslem countries like Saudi Arabia could not do anything when America blames arabic/moslem people attacking the WTC. As far as I concern, there were no clear proofs shown to the press about who actually attacked the WTC. I’m sure they just made it up. But Saudi Arabia could not do anything more than to shut their mouths up. Because the country’s oil industries are controlled by the U.S. If something happens, its economy will certainly be affected.

Regarding the book, I must say that we all should question the authenticity of this book, although probably I am going to believe whatever things written in it. :D I can’t wait to read it (and I’ll write its review later). If you have read it, don’t hesitate to share it with me :)

plis dong mel… can u stop writing for a moment… He..he… just kidding..
I’VE READ THE BOOK!!!!!!! Finally i read the book that amel haven’t…
Buku itu juga menyebut Hugo Chavez as a president that dare to say no to USA.. he’s one of my favourite figure (nanti gue mau bikin tulisan khusu buat dia)…
Singkatnya buku ini lumayan membuka wawasan lah..tapi jangan keburu percaya ya…

Have read the customer reviews. Some said good, some said not even worst. I don’t think I will read it since I don’t like those kind of subject especially if there’s a connection with politic. Anyway, I admire your wide knowledge.
