Internet in Saudi Arabia

I’m getting soooo depressed. If you love internet too much, I suggest you: DON’T live in Saudi Arabia. This picture tells you why:

Yap! The government blocks most of “pornographic” websites. They filter all the websites that are accessed within Saudi Arabia, if they find an adult-content site, they block it. I honestly have no problem with that. But you’ll get soooooo irritated when they block some sites that have nothing to do with it!!! It’s not about the pornographic or adult-content.. it’s about how they handle the blocking thingy.

Up til now, they’ve blocked: Flickr, Photobucket, Putfile, and ImageShack. Those are not porn websites, but SOME people use them for that purpose. That’s why they have been blocked. But the problem arises when somebody browses my blog, coz I use Photobucket and Flickr to host all my pictures. My blog seems to have no graphics at all!! It looks like this:

A few days ago, I found out that ALL websites using a blogspot domain were BLOCKED!!! I was so panicked and totally angry! I sent the unblocking request and complained about it. Can you imagine??? I couldn’t access all sites ending with .blogspot.com! A friend of mine recommends me to use xanproxy to browse all the blocked websites. It worked!!! :)

The next day I found out that blogspot has been unblocked. Wow! They responded my complain in one day!! But I was actually so surprised that I couldn’t access xanproxy’s website. Whoa!!! They’re doing a good job again hahahha… Now I know: whatever websites I browse, they all will be tracked by that bloody government! Sigh. So where’s the privacy anyway?

    No to bloody cencorship!

Gue setuju sensor buat kepentingan anak-anak, tapi untuk grown-ups NOPE. Treat grown-ups like grown-ups.

    Maka itu ada netnanny, surfpatrol.

Abad 21 gini masih sensor2 ? LOL Sekalian aja gunting kabel optiknya.

    ciao

Salam kenal
