Laylatul Qadr

I hope it’s not too late to post about Laylatul Qadr (The Night of Power).

Verily, We sent it down in the night of al-Qadr. And what will make you know what the night of al-Qadr is? The night of al-Qadr is better than a thousand months. Therein descend the angels and the Spirit by their Lord’s permission with all Decrees. Peace! Until the appearance of dawn. Al-Qur’an 97

Allah SWT has concealed the exact date of the Night of Power. Most people believe that Laylatul Qadr occur during the last 10 days of Ramadhan.

Seek it in Ramadan in the last ten nights. For verily, it is during the odd nights, the twenty-first, or the twenty-third, or the twenty-fifth, or the twenty-seventh, or the twenty-ninth, or during the last night. Sahih Hadith Ahmad

Laylatul Qadr is the most blessed night. It’s recommended that you stay awake til night and pray as much as you can. Don’t miss this glorious night, take part in it, and seek reward from Allah SWT.

Ibn Abbaas (R) said that the Messenger of Allaah (Saw) said : “The night of Qadr is a night of generosity and happiness, it is not hot and neither is it cold. The sun comes up in its morning weak, reddish. Tabaranee, Ibn Khuzaimah and Bazzaar

Whoever stays up (in prayer and remembrance of Allah) on the Night of Qadr fully believing (in Allah's promise of reward for that night) and hoping to seek reward (from Allah alone and not from people), he shall be forgiven for his past sins. Bukhari / Muslim

The most common Dua’a that Imam Sudais (of the Holy Mosque – Mecca) says after concluding a long Qiyam prayer (tarawih) during the last 10 days of Laylatul Qadr is:
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa`fu ‘annaaa [O Allah! You are forgiving, and you love forgiveness. So forgive me]

Thanks to my friend, Daniel for a nice discussion about Islam and Christianity yesterday… I’m surprised that you have a great curiosity about Islam…
