It feels really great to be at uni – studying IT, which is the only major I’m interested at. I take 4 courses: CSSE1001 (Intro to Software Engineering I), INFS1200 (Intro to Information System), MATH1061 (Discrete Mathematics), and MATH1050 (Mathematics Foundations). The first three courses are compulsory, and they are mostly prerequisites to other courses. So I don’t have any choices than taking those 3 courses. The reason I take MATH1050 as electives is to avoid those bloody writing assignments/essays. I love maths, most of its assignments are solving the problem on related topics (eg. Matrices, Vectors, Logic, etc). So that’s pretty much what I REALLY want to do at uni. I’m happy with it.
I’d probably change “my direction” on choosing the elective courses next year. I’ll start taking German Language classes to gain my knowledge on German – in case I’ll study Master in Germany after completing my undergraduate degree. It’s really good to plan how your future is gonna be, so u won’t be lost and stucked in the middle of the world once u completed ur “job”. Even if something happens & makes me change my plan about continuing my study there, it’ll still be ok coz I have the ability to speak 2 different foreign languages which make myself of having more advantage in the labour area.
I rarely meet new friends at uni – it’s so freakin hard to find new friends. Thank God there are some IES students who are also taking IT this year, so … at least… I have a friend to talk to. I usually sit with Max, the American guy and Anita, a girl from East Timor who speaks Indonesian. Normally we meet during the lectures. Well, Max and I take the same courses, so we always sit together. I met some new ppl from Sudan and Singapore. I did met an oz girl who only take one same course with me, but I forgot her name… :p
