I watch CNN and BBC all day. I’m so sad to hear the overall death toll is increasing. Especially in Indonesia, it increases from 5,000 to 45,000 people!!! I’m sure the number is still going up; probably will reach 100,000 death. I think this is the worst feeling, once again, watching my country heals the pain. I have no enthusiastic to celebrate New Year this time, nor that I want to go to my friend’s B’day (Najwa) tonight. I would feel extremely bad partying and dancing there, while people in other side of the world still suffers waiting for help to come. It’s not fair at all seeing them searching for their love ones, crying for the the miracle to come, and hoping for the best for their families and friends. I can only pray as much as I can for these people.
This is how the CNN’s Journalist, Alan Morison describes the tragedy:
What do you do when you see a huge wave-wall coming at you? You run. You run as fast as you can. You think: “This is surreal.”
But you keep running … until the water lifts you off your feet and sweeps you onwards.
It makes no difference whether you can swim or not.
The force carries you forward, and you become a living, breathing projectile. Grab onto something and you may live.
Surf the wave and you have a chance. Hit something solid, and you die.
