A day of destruction

I’m grieved over the victims of the massive earthquake & tsunamis that happened in my own country Indonesia and other countries in Asia. We have never expected that the 4th greatest earthquake in the world will ever happen, not in Aceh, not on this earth. It had a scale of 8.9 and was capable to “sink” several cities and villages. I can’t believe of how it affected so badly –especially- on poor people. In the matter of minutes, the buildings were smashed to smithereens, the houses were collapsed, and the roads were turned into disorder. It’s just unbelievable to see a huge mosque stood there (on tv); it was not even disturbed by the significance of the quake. Indonesia once again has to face this terrible nightmare.

I read some emails today and found awful news about Dyna Aldilla and her family. She was my junior in Madania High School, and actually I wasn’t really close to her. But from emails that I read in Friendster Bulletin Board, she and her family passed away because of the earthquake. I feel so sad and sorry to them. The news reminded me of Rahmad, my Junior High friend. He lives in the capital city of NAD, Banda Aceh. I haven’t heard anything from him, but I send the best wishes for him and his family. I pray to God that these people, esp my friends will be all right. I can only send them prayers, can’t do more or less. :(

I think numerous deadly natural disasters happened in 2004. If u still remember the Hurricane that swept away US several times ago, then the earthquake and tsunamis… It’s just unbelievable!! Are these natural disasters that killed thousands of people in some parts of the world a “reminder” from God? He is the supreme and most powerful substance. Remember, He created us, He also can destroy us. People now tend to fight for the sake of the happiness on their lives. They try to do anything they want. They even tend to ignore and abandon religion and the creator of life; God. Well, my mom says to me after hearing the tragedy: “The Judgment day may come sooner or later…” Unfortunately, only God knows when it will happen. We can only prepare ourselves by strengthening our faith and believes. For those of you who have forgotten Him, do something from now before it’s too late.
